Swim Lessons - 5 to 13 Year Old's - Water Acclimation & Safety First-day assessment will be conducted to determine the proper placement level. A child might be moved to an earlier or later class if placed in the wrong level. Swim lessons are not just about swimming skills. They are mostly about water safety. We will aim to help your child become a strong swimmer, but we want them to be safe first. Other skills will be practiced, but these are the main skills that will be assessed to move up a level. Our instructor-led swim lessons are only for ages 5 through 13. *Goggles, nose plugs, fins, or life jackets will not be allowed or used during swim lessons until they reach Level 6. We want to teach your child to be ok without these in the case of accidentally falling in the water and therefore be able to think clearly on how to get to safety or call for help. Water Acclimation and Safety Sessions Level 1 - This is the very beginner level. Students will learn how to comfortably and fully submerge under water and blow bubbles without plugging their noses and opening their eyes. The head has to be completely submerged including their ears. Although it seems pretty basic, without this skill new swimmers will struggle to progress comfortably. If your child can do this with goggles only, then they should still start at level one regardless of other skills. Level 2 - Each child will learn how to do both front and back floats comfortably for at least 10 seconds. They will also get more comfortable with rolling onto their back and sitting up vertically to be able to stand up.Water Movement Sessions Level 3 - Each child will continue to get more comfortable with water by adding a good effective kick to their front and back floats. They will have to kick about 15 feet without stopping. Level 4 - Now that students should be very comfortable in the water, we will introduce using their arms to propel themselves forward on their stomachs. They should be able to swim without breathing for at least 15 feet without stopping. They will also learn how to skull water to help them improve their feel for the water and will also learn how to side flutter kick.Front and Back Crawl Development Sessions Level 5 - At this level, we will teach children how to breathe while doing the front crawl. Being comfortable with rhythmic breathing during the front crawl is key. Backstroke will also be introduced. Level 6 - At this point, children will develop endurance and refine their front crawl to swim at least 25 yards without stopping. Their backstroke will also be refined with the same goal of 25 yards. This is the level we recommend that swimmers be allowed in the deep end of a pool. Therefore, deep water skills will also be taught including diving from the side and treading water.

Swim Lessons - 5 to 13 Year Old's - Front & Back Crawl Development First-day assessment will be conducted to determine the proper placement level.
